Where Learning Meets Practice
SEGi University Quantity Surveying students with their lecturer during the project submission.
At Arah Maju Bina, we believe that contributing to the construction and built environment extends beyond project delivery. It includes sharing practical knowledge, supporting education and creating opportunities for future industry professionals to learn through real-world exposure.
As part of this belief, Arah Maju Bina supported a group of students from SEGi University & Colleges working on their Integrated Project, where two student teams simulated professional Quantity Surveying roles one acting as the client’s Quantity Surveyor and the other as the contractor’s Quantity Surveyor. The group supported by Arah Maju Bina undertook the contractor-side role, allowing them to experience the perspective, responsibilities and decision-making processes commonly faced in practice.
How Arah Maju Bina Supported the Project
Our involvement focused on sharing practical insights and accommodating learning where appropriate. This included guidance and reference support in the following areas:
Preparation of tender documentation
Preparation of a Bills of Quantities (BQ) using a reference project
Development of a company profile, including vision, mission and organisational structure aligned with project requirements
The aim was to support students academically while helping them better understand how construction and commercial decisions are applied in the industry.
Student Perspective
"Arah Maju Bina really helped me understand how to approach problems in a more practical and industry-relevant way. It made it much easier to visualise how things should work and how to apply the correct methods.
Throughout the semester, whenever I felt unsure, Mr. Ahmad Ammar Baderisham the founder of Arah Maju Bina was always there to guide me and his advice helped me gain confidence in making the right decisions. This experience also helped me grow as a leader, as I learned how to assign tasks effectively and work closely with my teammates.
I am truly grateful to Mr. Ammar and my teammates for their constant support, hard work, and the sleepless nights we spent solving difficult problems together. With the support provided, I believe this experience played a meaningful role in helping our group achieve an A for this subject.”
- Muhammad Imran Kamrahuddin, Quantity Surveying Student, SEGi University & Colleges.
"Arah Maju Bina supported us by allowing us to use their company’s profile and refer to real project documents such as the BQ, which helped us better understand real construction practices.
My honest opinion about Arah Maju Bina is a professional and approachable company that supports student learning through real-world exposure.
This experience helped me better understand how a real construction project works, which gave me more confidence and made me less afraid to pursue a career in the construction industry”
